Good Morning, From Ryan Mountain to Mt. San Jacinto!
Last weekend I made an overnight trip to Joshua Tree. It was a spur of the moment thing. I decided to wake up before sunrise and attempt to get to the top of Ryan Mountain at the break of dawn. I ended up half way up the mountain before the sun started hitting the tallest mountain in the area. The sight was absolutely breathtaking.
The snow capped mountain in the distance is Mt. San Jacinto, which rises to 10,831 feet. Mount Ryan is 5,457 feet at its' summit.
I will never, ever, climb with all my camera gear again! This was the lesson I learned the hard way.. I should have just taken my 24-105L.
The climb was painful as I was moving quickly to get the sunrise. It was all worth it though. I was alone on the mountain and I was able to take in a beautiful sunrise over this amazing landscape.
I started the climb up at about 6:00am, I was back down just before 9:00am. I made it up and back before other people started climbing, so it was cool to know I was the only one there.
More pictures to follow in the coming days!
